Two important pieces of Members history are being released on Vinyl and CD  in August . Both the result of the discovery of early master tapes . At the Coach House is a recording session in 1978 which contains most of the material that would become The Members debut album "At the Chelsea Nightclub" including the first recording of their anthem "the Sound of the Suburbs"

At the End of Term is a recording from 1979 for what was to be the follow up to "suburbs" a schools out style anthem plus three tracks that would eventually feature on their second album. This second tape was incredibly the result of a chance conversation at a car boot fair in 2012.

AT THE COACH HOUSE DETAILS

In 1978 The Members were one of the hottest bands on the London circuit the unique post punk sound a dual guitar attack Reggae  basslines and incendiary drum work add to this mix the pocket rocket that was Nick Tesco you get an unique band, a Mixture of Surf Guitar, Dub Reggae and New Wave Rock .  They were on the cusp of smashing through into the big time, and they went into the studio with soon to be superstar producer. Steve Lillywhite to make a recording of their best numbers. This recording would ultimately get them a record deal, and subsequently lay in a cupboard untouched for 45 years. but it also stands as a record of their unique sound recorded at The first black owned studios in UK, Eddy Grant’s coach house studios.  This record has it all, the first studio recording of Sound of the suburbs and most of the tracks from the first album. There is something of the crossroads of this record. The band was standing on the edge of their biggest record. The studio was standing on the edge of the biggest hit and Steve Lillywhite was at the beginning of a huge career.  Because he was working in a bank at the time..JC couldn’t make it to the backing vocal sessions, so his brother Meesh and future World domination enterprises  bass player, Steve Jameson sang backing vocals !

Mastered from 8 track 1 Inch tape

Some people who criticised the production of our second album as too polished. Here are four tracks with The Members at their raucous rowdy best.     The first three tracks are all under 3 minutes yet are packed with lyrics drum fills guitar solos and chris’s throbbing bass lines. This is the sound of a band that came up the hard way through the tough punk pub circuit . No X factor lottery winners !  I have tried to present the band as you would have heard them live Enjoy!
